Instagram just dropped 3 new features!

This one gives you the ability of literally reposting (with just one click) any piece of content you see and find valuable.

But where does this go? Is it being reposted on your feed? Your reels tab? Your stories? Nope! It's got it's own tab next to your feed, a tab that no one knows about so far but we might see more of, once people start using this feature often.

What do I think: This is ok but we already have this ability when we repost on our stories don't we? 🙄, but hey! Maybe the app is trying to push people to share this content here and just keep stories fully personal?

One good thing to note is that when someone reposts your content you get whatever new views and engagement it gets from that person's audience, so it seems like a super easy way to boost someone else's content.

This one promises to show you content specifically from just your friends.

But how does Instagram know who your friends are? It's all the people you follow! And if you are someone like me who loves learning then it's thousands of people.

To find this feature: Go to the Explore feed, you should see a tab titled "Friends" right next to "Reels" on the top.

What do I think: As of right now (and I'm sure this is because it's new and IG glitches with new features) I'm still seeing random people I don't follow in there 🙄, plus we already have this ability with the "following" tab which actually shows your friends who recently posted, this in my opinion is far more valuable since they are active on the app which means you can engage with them and get responses quickly.

This is the one that is having people freak out: The Maps feature.

This gives you the ability to show your precise location on the app ALL THE TIME and it updates every time you open Instagram, yet it fully disappears if you don't open the app for 24 hours (but seriously who doesn't open Instagram for 24 hours? Or is it just me? 🤣).

IMPORTANT: This is something you have to turn on as it is NOT automatically on. To check: Click on your DMs and right under the "Ask Meta" search bar you should see a world map icon with the word "Map" under it, click on that and toggle on who would you like to share your location with (Friends, Close friends, only these friends OR no one).

What do I think: I honestly don't think it's useful if you are not an influencer. We already have this when we post and add our location but this new feature goes more in depth because it shows where you are ALL THE TIME. It's giving stalker vibes 🙄.
