  • Optimal filming settings: 1080p HD at 30fps (best for short-form content on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest).

  • Avoid 4K: Instagram downgrades it to 1080p anyway.

  • Why 30fps and not 60fps? 60fps is for extreme slow-motion edits; 30fps is better for storage and overall usability.

✨ Lighting & Composition:

  • Use natural light strategically. Place your phone between the light source and the subject for clear, well-lit footage.

  • Avoid filming against the lighting source because it will look dark or sometimes hazy.

  • When filming people: Avoid filming at 0.5x because it distorts body proportions. Exception: When you are capturing locations or scenery, because it gives depth.

✨ Smooth Camera Movements:

  • Panning & Tilting: Slowly move the camera left to right (panning) or up and down (tilting) for immersive footage.

  • Walking & Filming: Use the NINJA stance: Bend knees slightly, walk slowly to avoid shaky footage (you can speed it up later when editing).

  • Instead of using your phone's zoom, physically move closer for better video quality.

  • The Stabilizer Hold: Lock elbows and move your body with the camera for steadier shots.

✨ Creative Filming Techniques:

  • Add depth with perspective: Film from behind a door, wall, or plant before revealing your subject.

  • If you want to make just one subject stand out use cinematic mode for a professional blurred background.

  • Make timelapses interesting by switching camera angles 2-3 times for an engaging sequence.

  • Avoid filming people’s backs, what makes for a more interesting shot are faces and expressions.
